Welcome to Unit 3 of Advanced Pharmacology!
In this unit, we’ll talk about cardiovascular and hematologic pharmacology. Angina, a symptom linked with physical exertion, will be discussed. Acute and chronic angina are approached differently. This condition often occurs alongside diabetes mellitus, hyperlipidemia, and hypertension. We’ll explore risk assessment, rational drug choices, and treatment approaches.
This week, we’ll also cover hyperlipidemia. We’ll consider both genetic tendencies and lifestyle factors when discussing this topic. Our focus will be on treatment options and criteria for improving lipid profiles in patients.
Unit Learning Objectives:
1. Understand the principles of pathophysiology and therapeutics guiding pharmacotherapeutic interventions for cardiovascular and hematologic conditions.
2. Analyze how drugs used to manage cardiovascular and hematologic conditions work in terms of pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics.
3. Collect and apply evidence for pharmacotherapeutic interventions in patients with cardiovascular and hematologic conditions.Week 4/ Unit 3 “To Do” List:
– Complete the HYMR Cardiovascular/Hematologic Quiz.
– Prepare for the upcoming exam covering Unit 1-3.Learning Resources:
